it is copywrited so I can see Creative's point of view, but seriously, not supporting their own shit for an OS it says it supports?

What I got out of that was:

1) We have no problem with you providing drivers that enable our cards to do what they are supposed to do in Vista.

(Which makes one wonder why the fuck creative hasn't done what this guy seems to be doing.)

2) Creative got annoyed at this point....

Where we do have a problem is when technology and IP owned by Creative or other companies that Creative has licensed from, are made to run on other products for which they are not intended.

I don't fault Creative here - especially if this guy was asking for "donations" for his work.

From what I've been able to gather (Since I don't use Vista or Creative cards) is that Creative has yet to offer official, fully functional, bug-free Vista drivers for some of their latest cards. The boxes and their promotional material all say they work with Vista. They never did. This daniel_k guy released drivers that made them work.
Creative stated that most of their older cards are not supported by Vista nor will they have many of the advanced features you enjoyed under XP. In order to get those advanced features back, you must buy a newer card.
This daniel_k guy guy proved that wrong by releasing drivers that not only made the older cards work just fine, but also made these "advanced features" work as well.
This is where Creative stepped in and slapped him on the wrist, and started babbling about their IP.
The request for donations probably didn't help him either, especially asking for these donations on creative's own site. I don't fault the guy for asking for donations for his time....just where he was asking.
And also... why not email the guy about all this, or contact him privately. How unprofessional and stupid is it to rebuke this guy on a friday, and in a public forum where people are coming to look for support because their shit isn't working as intended or advertised?

Creative fell out of the boat a long time ago. Everything they've put out in the last 8 years or so has been bloated with shit.

Very interesting. A lot of people are not happy with Creative right now and threatening a Creative boycott.

I wonder if that Newegg post is real. Although its highly unlikely they would actually post on Creative's forums.

Ultimately, the consumers hold all the power, we just don't exercise it nearly enough. This is what we need to do with the oil companies, starting with Exxon.

That newegg post is definitely fake. That e-mail in their profile is not their registered e-mail.

It's an e-mail they added into their profile.

However, go consumers. I can't believe the fucking VP of Corporate Communications had the balls to post that? ROFL.

Yeah, all the "vista certified" cards are still on newegg. It would have been really sweet had it been real though, cause I imagine sales for those are in the crapper anyway.

187 pages now..

I dumped Creative back at Audigy 1. Unfortunately I bought 4 of 'em before I realized all the bloat. At least the bloat is on the CD, not the card, so they're working great in my linux systems now. Still dont plan to ever buy another Creative though.
